I have been working with NTIC Northern Technologies International Corporation ("NTIC") since the year 2000 on various projects for corrosion applications. The Aboveground Storage Tank (AST) top project was started in 2004 because of the huge corrosion problems that affect internal metal surfaces of tank tops at many companies worldwide, including Petrobras. After a very successful field trial, we have entered into a commercial contract to start using the Zerust ReCAST-R system to protect tank roofs at the REDUC refinery in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The benefits of using ReCAST-R are listed below:
- Reduction in corrosion rate can increase the roof services life expectancy by more than 3 times
- System can be maintained without interrupting tank operations
- Increased services life reduces tank down time
